We will keep interested followers up to date on the development of our project, inform readers of the progress of students doing their work experience with us and of any changes we make at Eze's Place.

GHANA - 1st trip - April - May 2003
Before travelling to Ghana on our first trip, my husband and I did our research and had contact numbers for people we hoped would help us in our endeavours. Unfortunately things did not go as planned and following a fruitless week in Accra we decided to take a chance and follow our instincts. My husband and I boarded a coach on our way to visit family I had in Takoradi. We decided to stop at Cape Coast and do a bit of tourist stuff (In Cape Coast there are two castles used historically during the slave trade to hold and transport Africans; Elmina castle and Cape Coast castle) As we got off the coach a taxi driver approached us offering to take us to a local hotel. Mr Saki took us to JANGELS hotel where our journey finally took off. I was at the hotel for a few days before I realised that the name of the hotel stood for Jesus and the Angels, which for those of you who know me was a definite bonus as I have a real love affair with the Angels, so I knew it was a sign that everything was going to work out. MR ASARE and the TEAM
After arriving at our hotel in Ghana and settling in our room we were introduced to a lovely warm friendly man who offered straight away to show us around Cape Coast town. We assumed he was a guest at the hotel but once in his car we found out that Mr Asare was in fact the owner and managing director of the hotel. We liked him straight away and chatted easily to him telling him of our plans. He offered to help us and has been more than true to his word. He said he could help us find the land for our project and we were grateful but since then he has overwhelmed us with his generosity and far surpassed anything we had hoped for. Mr Asare introduced us to Mr Mohammed, a local land owner who sold us the land at a reduced price because we plan to use the land for charitable purposes. He then took us to meet a local surveyor Mr Abrefa who plotted out and demarked the land. He then introduced us to Bob the builder, who prepared the floor plans of the project by hand as he does not have access to a computer .Without the help of Mr Asare we would not of known about the traditional elements of the land transaction nor would we been able to conduct the meeting we had with the local chief. Prior to our second visit to Cape Coast in November 2003 Mr Asare had completed all the legal dealings to do with the land transaction and the registering of the land and the subsequent drawings of the project ; without Mr Asare this would all still be a dream in the making so WE THANK YOU MR ASARE.

GHANA- 2nd trip - NOVEMBER 2003
Our second trip to Ghana in November 2003 was better organised than our first and one of the main reasons for the trip was to meet more children in need of our services. On our first trip we had the help of two local young men, Kofi and Robert who helped us find Kwaku, Alma and Kwaku. For this trip we needed to meet more children than Kofi and Robert had access to and so we enlisted the help of the staff from a local N.G.O.(Non-governmental organisation) The Centre of Awareness at Abease. After hearing about our project both Mr Justice and Mr Bright organised their team of volunteers to scour the local areas for children suitable for Eze's Place. With their help we managed to meet 50 children and talk with their families. Mr Justice, Mr Bright and the volunteers collated all the necessary information for us and physically took us from village to village meeting and interviewing the children. Prior to our visit the volunteers at the N.G.O. were busy trying to raise local awareness in relation to AIDS, how to avoid contracting it and how best to care for those already suffering with it. If you are interested in contacting this organisation you can E-mail them on centre20002002@yahoo.com , telephone them on 042 37261 or write to them at P.O. BOX 1361, Cape Coast Ghana.
